Pawnee, OK – Pawnee High School pitcher Haylee Van Deventer was recently honored with the Distinguished Young Woman of Pawnee award and received the title of Distinguished Young Woman of Oklahoma (1st runner-up).
Daughter of Rick and Kathy Van Deventer, Haylee was named captain of the varsity softball team and made the All-Conference squad. The four-year starter also received the OSSAA Academic Achievement Award in both softball and cheerleading. She carries a 4.0 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society, BETA, STUCO, and is on the yearbook staff. All of this while taking Pre-Engineering classes at the Meridian Technology Center.
When she’s not in the classroom or on the diamond you can find her cheering for various sports including football and basketball. She recently received an invitation to participate with an all-star cheer squad. Van Deventer is a great example of a student-athlete meeting their full potential in the classroom and on the field.
For her commitment to Pawnee High School and her teammates, Haylee Van Deventer is the Pawnee Athlete of the Month.
