Head coach McKayla Plett and the Lady Chiefs of Seminole High School have a lot to be excited about despite lacking that upper clansman leadership many teams depend on every year.
What they lack in experience they more than make up for in desire. These girls want to play and they want to win. Junior pitcher Karlie Sneed and junior catcher Destiny Tiger are two reasons coach Plett isn’t too concerned about not having a roster loaded with seniors.
“This is going to be a good year for the Lady Chiefs and the girls are ready. We are young and have a lot of great players,” said Plett.
At shortstop look for sophomore Destre Harrison, while Chloe Conners (10) and Aubrey Kotchaver (11) will split time at second base. Hayden Harjo, another solid sophomore, is expected to make an impact in centerfield along with Alexa Newton (10) and Skylar Howard (10). Freshman Mae Born is another outfielder coach Plett will use this season.
Big wins over Bristow and Berryhill to start the season could be crucial wins as the season gets closer to tournament time. Recently in the Stratford tournament the Lady Chiefs went on a four-game winning streak. The talent and desire is certainly there, making the Lady Chiefs a team you better not sleep on this season.
